The Feltman Family Care Fund was established to help pay for medical, memorial, legal and any general needs of the Feltman family. The following is a letter that our Bible Study group prepared to help promote the fund. The address of the fund is at the bottom of the letter. Dear Friends: A terrible tragedy has befallen the lives of two of our very dear friends, Wade and Bethe Feltman, a Christian couple who we care deeply about. On the evening of April 9, 1998, Wade Feltman came home from work to discover their two children, Benjamin 3-1/2 years, and Moriah 3-months, dead and his wife Bethe incoherent. Bethe, who was undergoing treatment for post-partum depression since the birth of their daughter Moriah on New Year?s Day, was taken to Swedish Medical Center for emergency medical attention then transported to Centura Porter Hospital in Denver, where she is receiving care, psychological evaluation and treatment. The children were laid to rest on April 16th following a beautiful service which was attended by over 400 family, friends, and members of their church. Wade continues to deal with the aftermath of this tragedy, aided by his family and close friends. Why are we writing to you about this? First, to tell you about our friends Wade and Bethe Feltman, and second, to share with you their needs and in what ways you may help them. Wade and Bethe Feltman are described by those who know them as caring and generous people, and a strong Christian couple. Bethe is a children?s teacher who wanted to make a difference in the lives of her pupils and is known by those close to her as a loving mother, an encourager and a servant, always ready to lend a helping hand. Wade is an engineer with the Bureau of Reclamation and has a gift for working with computer systems. He is a quiet, sensitive man and a devoted father and husband. Wade is the first one to offer help whenever someone has a need. Wade and Bethe are members of Foothills Bible Church located near their home in Jefferson County, and belong to a small Bible Study Group, who love them as they would their own family. Wade continues to trust in God for strength as Bethe is recovering and being treated in the hospital (and perhaps will be for some time to come). Wade?s dedication to Bethe and the Lord is truly an inspiration which has encouraged all of those around him. At the time of this writing, Wade has finally returned to work. The medical bills for Bethe (only partially covered by insurance) are mounting and will, in all likelihood, continue to do so. In addition, the Feltman?s were advised to retain the services of special legal counsel for Bethe for anticipated charges stemming from the death of their children. The initial legal fees have run to approximately $25,000 for pre-trial work and the required medical and psychological evaluations needed for Bethe?s defense are expected to run $10,000. In the best case, the legal expenses are expected to double and if her case goes to trial (we are praying that it doesn?t), these costs are expected to triple. What can you do to help? First and foremost, we hope that you will pray for Wade and Bethe, and consider the following prayer needs:
Secondly, we pray that should God lay a burden on you to assist them with their financial needs, that you do so with a giving heart. The financial burden is mounting and their resources are limited. In addition, we are also asking that this letter be shared with existing prayer chains, Bible studies, Sunday School classes, etc. Enclosed is information regarding the care fund established for Wade and Bethe Feltman. Our heartfelt thanks go out to you.
