******** Remember this is my opinion only and I?m not a doctor, I don?t pretend to be ? My kids have died due to this illness though. Warning: Severe postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis will most likely not be diagnosed by nor recognized by the new mother. They will require an outsider, the Father ? parents ? friend - anyone, to intercede on her behalf. My children, Benjamin and Moriah, died due to their mother?s severe postpartum depression and/or postpartum psychosis and I had taken Bethe to the hospital on three separate occasions, the last being only three days prior to the tragedy. Bethe never believed that there was anything wrong with her before the tragedy (other than she believed she was a bad mother). One of the hardest parts for me is that I never ?diagnosed? Bethe as depressed. Bethe?s most noticeable symptom is not even listed. It was that she could not communicate adequately ? a sure sign that she was not thinking clearly either. If you know anyone with these symptoms, you must act on their behalf and get help. Trust me that it is better to risk being hated and have nothing happen than to have both of your children die. ******** |
